Many Italians in Sarnia from c. 1950's - 1970's had Dr. Carpeneto, who spoke Italian, as a family physician. He was a household name to the community.

The photograph was donated by the Carpeneto family for the historical project of 1988-1991. The project was a physical pictorial exhibit realized by the Italo-Canadian Cultural Club of Sarnia-Lambton in 1989. The collection was expanded for the publication of "One by One...Passo dopo passo... History of the Italian Community in Sarnia-Lambton" in 1991.

The photograph was collected c. 1988 to 1990. The rights were given by the Carpeneto family to the Italo-Canadian Cultural Club of Sarnia-Lambton. In 2016 the rights of this collection was transferred to Italian-Canadian Archives Project (ICAP).
