Domenico Rocca's father had also emigrated to the US in the early 1900s. Emigration repeated itself with the subsequent generation, was a way that the Rocca family's situation in Italy was ameliorated. Money, earned abroad, was sent back so that more property could be bought and expenses could be paid.
