Domenico Rocca's 1949 certification letter of trade qualification. Before emigration it was necessary to have the mayor of the town to provide a signed letter to certify the qualifications of person leaving. Since many of these rural Italian immigrants, of this era, did not have much education they needed to at least have to show their work experience.
