Cataldo emigrated to Canada in 1959 with a promise to come back in a couple years to marry Rita.
He kept his word, and in 1961 they were wed in Castelliri. Only weeks later they began their married life together in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada.
Like many emigrants at that time, contact with Italy was difficult. Neither Cataldo nor Rita's families back home in Italy had telephones, and letters were the only way to stay in contact.
This photo shows Cataldo's parents, and was taken in 1963.</text>
